70年代，中国北方某农村，村支书的女儿张翠花热情泼辣、勤劳能干。她在一次村报告会上邂逅了斯文儒雅的知青陈志，并对他一见倾心。大批知识青年返城，陈志因种种原因滞留于农村，张翠花借机大胆示爱，陈志终于接受了她的爱情。工农兵大学招生，陈志在岳父帮助下回城上大学，张翠花来到陈家，极尽儿媳孝道。陈志在大学里认识了女同学叶秀萝，两人互生好感，但他却对张翠花忠贞不渝。。One day Radu receives the implacable verdict that he only has a few more months to live.
