该剧讲述了田教授家的众多亲戚隔三差五地登门造访，使田家平静的生活中激起了片片涟漪，引发了一连串耐人寻味的悲喜故事。。八岁的小男孩查理（Roméo Botzaris 罗密欧•波扎利斯饰）急切企盼圣诞节的来临，因为父亲皮耶（Vincent Lindon 文森特•林顿饰）答应送他一辆自行车作为节日礼物。但是当他好不容易等到父亲回家时，却发现他的礼物只是一架白色的飞机模型。父亲看出查理的失望，答应当查理生日时一定送他自行车。 不久，身为飞行员的皮耶在执行任务时不幸遇难，只留下悲伤的妻子凯瑟琳（Isabelle Carré 伊莎贝尔•卡瑞饰）和儿子查理相依为命。查理每晚抱着父亲送给他的飞机睡觉，希望以此能够与父亲更近。不过他却发现，这架飞机竟然能够自由飞翔……。Elena (Francesca Neri) and Ernesto (Vincenzo Amato) are a couple who are bitterly torn apart by the death of their only child.
